Perfectly ordered disorder designed with a helter-skelter magnificence.” ~ Emily Carr ~
I am inspired by nature, mortality, ancestral heritage, astrology and celestial bodies, and a slew of other things and instances too vast to mention. I am also entranced by moments, memories, words, maps, photographs, and what some may call trivial thoughts. Inspiration can come from something as vast as the mountains or as tiny as a speck of sand.
Though my paintings, drawings and mixed media creations vary in style, they are each inspired by a particular moment, feeling or observation. Each artwork is a celebration, whether that happens to be melancholy or joyous. In my abstracts I am exploring the relationship between nature and mortality, the literal and figurative, and synesthetic impressions.
I am semi-obsessed with the Victorian and Edwardian eras and I tend to be inspired strongly by them in my scent blending and a lot of my art.
I love painting and drawing, taking pictures, going to cemeteries & studying gravestone symbols, & reading about or looking at things from the Victorian & Edwardian eras. I never get tired of Antiques Roadshow.
Making soap, candles, and other home fragrances is another passion of mine, but perfume blending is my absolute favorite of those.
I have favorites of my own blends and frequently wear Oh My Darlin’ perfume oil.
